POSITION SUMMARY
The incumbent in this position is responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial information for internal and external use, and for maintaining and ascertaining the integrity of accounting records for the purpose of compiling, reconciling, adjusting and/or reclassifying accounting and operational information; analyzes and maintains balance sheet accounts, oversees the day-to-day audits of the hotel, casino, food and beverage to ensure accurate information for recording and reporting of revenue and related expenses. This role also involves managing accounting staff, preparing financial statements, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
Responsibilities:
– Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
– Ensure that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date
– Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting department
– Manage the month-end and year-end closing process
– Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
– Ensure compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards
– Manage the budgeting and forecasting process
– Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement financial strategies
– Provide oversight and guidance to accounting staff
– Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals

-Gathers and examines source information to verify balance sheet (bank accounts, cash, inventory, etc.) to reconcile all accounts and produce monthly summary statements. Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
-Assists internal, contracted, and regulatory auditors in their examination of accounting records to ensure that auditors receive adequate information and interpretation for effective inspection of company records.
-Prepares financial analysis and statistical reports.
-Prepares journal entries to ensure the most appropriate representation of data in the general ledger and financial statements to provide accurate and timely financial reporting.
-Assists with daily auditing, processing, and recording of revenue and expenses to ensure all work is coordinated properly, reviews the work of bookkeepers to ensure information is accurate, timely, and in compliance with regulatory and company policies.
-Anticipates ongoing changes, problems, and opportunities to maintain effective systems and procedures, assists with the development and maintenance of audit programs.
-Organizes and ensures proper documents retention, storage, and destruction.
-Monitors financial performance and provides insights to senior management.
-Develops and implements financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
-Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff. Assign tasks, set goals, and evaluate performance.
-Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
-Ensure compliance with gaming regulations, tax laws, and other relevant legislation.
-Coordinate internal and external audits.
-Prepare and submit regulatory reports in a timely manner.
-Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes.
-Provide financial support for special projects and capital investments.
-Develops strategies to safeguard the casino’s assets.
-Monitor and report on financial discrepancies and irregularities.

REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
-Knowledge of general accounting procedures and related statutory requirements is helpful.
-Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the gaming or hospitality industry.
-Strong knowledge of GAAP, gaming regulations, and relevant tax laws.
-Proficient in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
-Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
-Strong leadership and communication abilities.
-High diligence and integrity.
-Knowledge of financial systems and proficiency with spreadsheet software is helpful.
-Accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience preferred.
-Ability to apply common sense reasoning to a variety of situations.
-This position requires a NV Gaming Registration.
-Must possess effective communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
-Experience with audits preferred.
-Fast-paced casino environment with frequent interactions with various departments.
